Woof! Pet Sitting Service

Mozart the cat writes about his mom, Kristin:

Hi. I'm Mozart. My mom asked me to write a little something about her and her pet care company. You can see my picture below. I like lounging in our veggie garden.

On the left here is Kristin with Bijoux, one of her many dog friends. Kristin has always had a thing for us animals so it makes so much sense that she would own a pet sitting service.  Even when she was a little, little person she could really understand us and relate to us. When she runs into people who knew her when she was young and they hear what she does now they always laugh and say,  “Of course  you work with animals!”  Oh, and Kristin likes humans a lot, too, which is pretty unusual for an animal person.

Let’s see…what else?  Though she’s done a lot of travel abroad, she has always come back to roost in her native Marin County.  She started WOOF! Pet Sitting Service in 1995 thinking it would be a fun business to run. Now, years later, WOOF has become one of the oldest (and according to her clients) most well-loved pet care companies in Marin.  Kristin lives with me and 2 goldfish named Grace and Rex. She often comes home to us with stories of all the animals she has visited with including:  horses, dogs, cats, mice, birds, and rabbits.  I love hearing of her adventures. When she is not running her own pet sitting company, Kristin is busy coaching other pet sitters from around the country on how to run their businesses more effectively and successfully.

What else to tell you?  We live in an old and wonderful yellow cottage in San Rafael with high grass that I love to hide in.  We are currently dog-less and looking for the right dog to add to our cat and fish family.  I guess that’s it. Meow. (bye)

Kristin’s note: Mozart died at the age of 18 on May 25, 2007 after a very long and full life of chasing cats off our property and eating bugs. I feel so grateful to have had such a unique, talkative and dog-like kitty for 16 years (I got him when he was 2). My experience in finding Mozart at the shelter was that he chose me to be his cat-mom. I’m hoping to be chosen by another animal at some point soon.

Meet our Client Services Manager:

Linda

You can call our office 7 days a week from 9:00am-8:30pm and if your call is not directly answered by us you can be assured that one of us (Kristin, Melanie or Linda) will be calling you back within only a couple of hours during the time above. Below is an introduction to the other two people who you may 'meet' on the WOOF phone.

Linda

Working with WOOF! has been a great experience for me thus far! I wear many hats and I love them all: I am a dog walker, pet visitor and client services manager for WOOF. I look forward to meeting you on the phone or in person.

I love animals and since I am not able to have any more (my husband thinks the three dogs we have is plenty) I decided to share the love I have for animals with WOOF! clients. Through WOOF I have met many wonderful creatures (and of course dog and cat Moms & Dads too)! Each one is different and makes me smile. It is very rewarding to be able to care for these animals and put the client's mind at ease. I enjoy caring for each of the WOOF dogs and cats as if they were mine. Since I have three dogs of my own, I know just how important it is to find loving, caring, and trusting people to care for them. WOOF! does just that and everyone benefits, especially the animals.

Meet Some of Our Other Staff Members:

Jacqueline

Kristin writes about Joanne:

Like some of our other staff members, Joanne first came to us a few years ago as a client.

She was the loving dog mom of "Flicka", her little Sheltie. When Flicka passed on, Joanne called me to inquire about working with WOOF because she wasn't quite ready to get another dog and yet she really missed being around dogs.

She began her work with WOOF in early 2007 as a dog walker and dog vacation visitor. You can see her to the left here with one of her dog walking buddies, Mancha.

Jacqueline

For me, spending time with animals is not a job but a healing experience.  Each individual being expands my heart and lifts my spirit.   I love getting to know them, understanding their personalities, their quirks.  It never fails that when I spend time with Woof! pets, I end up laughing.  A lot.  What a gift!

Jacqueline

My first interaction with WOOF was when I hired them to take care of my kitties, Boots and Muddy.  I was so impressed by their professionalism and their complete adoration for animals that I decided that I wanted to work for them!  It started with doing a few cat visits; but has grown into dog walks as well!  That was almost 2 years ago!  I grew up with dogs and realize what joy having dogs and cats in one’s life brings.  Every day that I take the dogs for their walk, they are so happy to see me; which makes me happy!  Lunchtime with a group of dogs in the fresh air?  What could be better!!

Jacqueline

I have been on staff with WOOF since 2004 and am a HUGE animal lover.  I have two cats:  Max and Sophie. I hope to get a dog soon but for now showering other dogs with attention is the next best thing. I just love my WOOF dogs and cats!  You can see me on the left with one of my beloved dog walking charges,  Picolla.

Sheryle

Dogs, cats, fish, rats and more. These are the critters that make me the warm and fuzzy human that I am. And because I love animals so much, I work for WOOF! Pet Sitting Service. WOOF! offers me the opportunity to know and care for many more animals than I can afford to feed. I have worked with WOOF! off and on for over 3 years and have received an abundance of 4-legged joy and the gratitude of their happy humans. Perhaps I'll be the one to share a smile and a wag with one of your fuzzy pals next time you need an overnight pet sitter.

Libett

When I was a child, my siblings and I begged our parents for a cat and a dog but instead...we got goldfish! Then one day, when I was eight years old, my wish came true. A beautiful tabby cat adopted our family, we gave him some love and food and he stayed. Thus began my love for cats, dogs and all pets in general. I LOVE the tender brush against my leg that cats provide along with the loud purr. It's so fun to hear the pitter-patter of excitement from a dog's paws on the kitchen floor when I arrive, letting me know that s/he's so happy to see me and is ready to play. I currently do not have my own pet because I don't have the space for one so working with WOOF and giving all my love and affection for our clients and their pets is the next best thing.

Laura

I have always loved and bonded with animals. My neighbors growing up happily allowed me to walk or play with their pets after I wore mine out. They are more than pets to me: they are my buddies. We hang out, laugh, and play. Whether it's the animals in my day to day life, or the animals under my care through Woof!, I'm always filled with happiness and a sense of calm after spending time with them. I feel very lucky to be able to exchange love and affection from so many wonderful animals.

Kai

Growing up with cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, rats and fish...life has always been full of love, laughter and companionship. My favorite part of the day was always coming coming home to the excited smiling face of my dog or watching my cat bound out of the bushes and rub against my leg as I opened the front door.

Since my current housing situation does not allow animals, I have felt a major void in my life. My mom has used WOOF! when I was not able to take care of her dogs and so a couple of years ago I decided to contact WOOF! about a job so I could get my animal fix. Working for WOOF! is such a great opportunity to interact with animals of all kinds and fill that void that was missing.

Greg

I am an animal lover having grown up around dogs, cats, horses and practically anything else I could bring home. This love has led me to my career as a horse trainer and my volunteer work with animal rescues. For the first time in my life I don't have a dog or cat and am thankful for the opportunity to care for and spend time with the dogs and cats of WOOF! clients.

Laura S.

Animals naturally brighten every day with their energy and natural enthusiasm for family, strangers they meet and life in general. Their instincts are so keen and in tune to everything that goes on around them. They've have always been a blessing in my life and have taught me a lot about patience, understanding and a generosity of spirit that always comes back around.

Beverly

After the death of my spunky toy fox terrier named Prince, I kept in touch with the animal kingdom by pet sitting for friends. Working full time on a hectic schedule prevented any idea of a new companion so I became an “aunt” to several dogs and cats while providing vacation pet care. I joined the Marin WOOF! Pet Sitting and Dog Walking team after retiring from my full-time job and I look forward to extending my circle of furry friends with your pets!

Chris S.

I love walking dogs for Woof. I currently live in an apartment in which I can’t have a dog, so this has been a great way to get my dog fix a couple times a week. I always look forward to taking my Woof dogs on walks through the hills of Mill Valley. It’s the perfect setting for a small pack of dogs to exercise, play and socialize. Come have your dog join us!

Miriam

I have been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. I’ve had dogs, cats, guinea pigs, fish and a neat python named Bexley. I’m also a horse lover and volunteer at a therapeutic riding school. I was a veterinary technician for ten years and loved caring for animals and helping them stay happy and healthy. I have 4 pets, my dog Naia and 3 cats Kira, Jonsey and Calvin. I'm so happy to be a part of the WOOF team! It’s great fun to take dogs for walks so they can get some exercise and playtime.

Regan

Ever since I was born, I’ve always had dogs in the house, and as an only child I often referred to them as my sisters, since we all know that pets aren’t just animals, they are family members as well. As such, I understand how hard it is for families to leave a pet behind, even if for a few days. I’m so glad WOOF! Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Service has given me the opportunity to look after your family member while you are away and give them the love and attention they deserve!

I have been an animal lover since I could first venture out in the yard and bring a cat, rabbit or a dog home. I have been active in cat rescue for both feral and domestic cats for various non profit groups for over 12 years. I have a medical background which gives me skill in administering fluids and medications for cats and dogs. I live in Tiburon with my felines who rule the roost and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love working with WOOF because it provides me with a job that enables me to work with kitties and dogs as well as assisting clients in their pet care needs.

Pilar

As a child I grew up with dogs, cats, pigeons, rabbits, chickens and goldfish. Needless to say I love animals! They are great companions when you are feeling blue, they make you smile by their cute little quirky ways. I love hearing them purr and bark hello when I visit and stay overnight with them. I love to see how excited they are to see me. As an adult I have had my own dogs, but now that I am in a smaller home I can't have a dog. So thanks to my work with WOOF! Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Service, I now get to spend some quality, fun time with animals.

Judy

I grew up in the Boston area with many, many pets. Had many years experience dog- and cat- and parrot- and iguana-sitting in the Caribbean while living in the Turks & Caicos Islands. Relocated to St. Augustine, Florida and continued to enjoy watching over dogs and cats in that area but decided the West is my home and have been in the Bay Area for a few years now, continuing to care for and enjoy the company of beloved pets. It's a wonderful life, sharing in that love!

Maura

I love the animals and they love me. I have enjoyed my connection with animals my whole life. I find something special about all animals! As I continue to develop my understanding of pack mentality and the practice of being a calm assertive pack leader it allows the dogs I'm walking to become calm, balanced and happy. I enjoy being a loving and attentive caregiver to the WOOF pets. Working with WOOF allows me to take care of all types of animals and this makes me very happy.

Toni S.

I was born in West Marin into a family with a dog, cats, ponies, chickens, ducks and a Holstein cow! I have always had a cat---now I have four! Animals are good for the soul...more fun than Disneyland!

Ginette K.

My life has always been filled with animals -- from dogs, cats, hamsters -- to rabbits later on. I had mice in college just to have some animal companionship and later volunteered at a zoo. It never feels like a home without the love and personalities of animals! We currently have two zany dogs but our cat passed on last year and I still miss him terribly - he made me laugh every day. I enjoy getting my kitty "fix" visiting some sweet WOOF kitties! Thrilled to be getting some animal time caring for your beloved critters. There is no greater joy nor way of appreciating the present moment than in sharing that moment with a pet.

Nikki

Animals are a way of life, and they are 100% my life. I have had all types of animals growing up, but right now my life is filled with my goofy Siamese, two miniature horses, and my absolute love, my English Bull Terror (yes, terror). Working for WOOF! makes me so happy! I get to take care of and spend time with even more pets.

Emeigh

I was very fortunate to grow up in a large family with parents who allowed us to have a great menagerie of animals throughout the years. I have raised and trained many rescue pups including some that have arrived having been quite abused. Having them trust me is an incredible reward...it comes with patience and love for the wonderful dogs that have had difficult beginnings.

I truly love working for WOOF! Pet Sitting Service. I have met wonderful clients who love their animals deeply and trust me and my fellow WOOF staff members to watch over their pets as if they were our own. There is no such thing as a bad day when I am greeted with such unconditional love at each home I visit.

When not working with WOOF! I enjoy doing creative garden design and quilting… when I am not hiking the hills of Marin!

Linda P.

For as far back as I can remember, there has always been a dog in my life. Since having three children, a dog has been just the beginning of our family zoo. We have had cats, mice, a hamster, fish, and a gecko and I have loved them all! Currently, our furry family member is Rufus, a lovable chocolate lab who brightens up our days with lots of kisses. I cannot tell you how much joy he brings to our family. Thank you to WOOF! for allowing me to care for so many wonderful pets!

Melissa

I knew Reyna was my companion for life when I first spotted her in an animal shelter as a 3-month-old puppy that hadn’t yet grown into her oversized ears. We’ve been together for almost 13 years now. Over those years I’ve learned about unconditional love, the special bond between human and pet, and the value of a dog sitter that loves her as much as I do. Through working with WOOF! Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Service I am able to return the gifts of love, respect and attention we have received. I’m really grateful to be a part of every pet’s life!

Clint

I love animals, and I really enjoying caring for them. I grew up with lots of animals on a farm and loved it.

Being with pets and animals is such a enjoyable, peaceful, loving and healing experience. Over the years, it has given me great pleasure to serve as a pet-sitter, caretaker, and guardian of all types of pets and animals. I also enjoy time in nature, volunteering, and serving on a Board of Advisors for a North Bay non-profit foundation. I am so very happy to be a part of the WOOF pet sitting team, offering quality animal care to WOOF's clients.

My animal and property-sitting clients and friends repeatedly say that their animals feel so happy and peaceful when they return from their trip, and they have complete confidence that their animals are being well cared for, while they are away. They say that having me care for their animals and home puts their minds and hearts at ease so that they can fully enjoy their trip.

I really enjoy being and serving as an animal and property caretaker so very much! I am so very grateful for the job with WOOF! Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Service.

Marina

Ever since I was a little girl I had had a strong passion and love for animals and have always been attracted to the ones that might need a little extra assistance. I wanted to rescue and save all of the injured , abused, and lost animals while growing up. I still do! My dream is to one day have a 'rescue ranch' where I can rescue as many dogs as possible from abusive and abandoned situations. In the meantime- I adore my two rescue kitties and 2 rescued black labs along with all the cats and dogs I visit.

Liesha

I am a GIANT animal lover who has always had a dog in my life. My current dog friend, Tula, loves to play at the dog park and explore the Marin trails and many times she can be found traveling around town with me. Tula is the most recently adopted superstar of our family and was found at the Marin Humane Society. My cat, Ravi, was adopted from an animal shelter in Davis, CA. Because I love animals so much, I have a history of helping to find homes for injured animals and strays. In fact, my last dog, an Australian Shepard/Border Collie mix named Claudia, came to me as a sick and scared stray and ended up becoming my best friend..for 17 years!

Linda R

I love animals! A few years ago I began volunteering as a Puppy Petter at an organization that trained dogs for the disabled. Involvement with the organization awakened my passion for animals, especially dogs, and I went back to school for my degree in Human/Canine Life Sciences. My home went from no dogs to three in one year, and each one is a precious family member.

I continue to find great joy and satisfaction in training pups and fostering Guide Dogs, and have expanded my love of animals to cats and other small mammals. WOOF! Pet Sitting and Dog Walking of Marin is a welcome addition to my career in pet care and provides me with an opportunity to care for their clientele.

Monique

I love all the animals in my life and consider them to be family and friends. Growing up as an only child, my dog and cat were like my brother and sister. We developed a wonderful bond of love and friendship that has stayed in my heart all these years. As I got older I began to walk dogs and do pet-sitting for many of my neighbors. I love spending time with animals, getting to know their personalities and sharing their playfulness and affection. At the moment I am living in an apartment where I am unable to have a dog, so I am thrilled to be able to spend time with canine companions through WOOF!
